PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athenian School seeks a three quarter time Spanish teacher to teach two sections of Upper School Spanish 3 and one section of Spanish 5 Honors for the spring semester (January - June) as a planned leave replacement. Successful candidates will have demonstrated the desire to, and the capabilities for, collaboratively generating curricula and classroom practices that help students develop language proficiency and fluency and learn the specific skills necessary to express themselves in Spanish. Such candidates will also be drawn to meaningfully finding ways to express Athenian’s Pillars in our classrooms: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, Service. We seek an educator who models lifelong learning and becomes an active part of our vibrant community outside of the classroom. Successful candidates will also bring experience with differentiated, experiential, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Successful candidates will bring strong cultural competency and the capacity to work with students, families and colleagues who represent a broad range of identities and experiences. We seek candidates who are fluent in Spanish and English with previous high school teaching experience, knowledge of Spanish literature and culture, solid classroom management skills and a Bachelor’s degree.

Athenian salaries are competitive and commensurate with work experience and education. Community members enjoy meals on campus and use of athletics facilities, including a pool, gym and fitness center. The annual salary basis for this role ranges from $79,700-144,200. Additionally, faculty receive additional stipends for completed Masters and Doctoral degrees.
All employees are expected to attend all-school functions relevant to their role and to participate in supporting the student experience with other school duties as requested by their direct supervisor.
