PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Athenian School seeks a full-time Technical Theater Teacher and Theater Manager. This position will involve teaching students the art of theatrical production, serving as Technical Director to all upper school and middle school productions, and meeting the audio-visual needs at all daily assemblies and other school events that take place in the Center for the Arts (CFTA) or Main Hall. This position will coordinate all aspects of productions and concerts including set design, construction, lighting, sound, costumes, props and special effects. They are also responsible for scheduling all events in the theater and overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of the CFTA including the theater, office, backstage areas, costume room, green room, and storage sheds.

An ideal candidate will possess the ability to engage effectively with students and colleagues, strong organizational skills, and an understanding of and appreciation for working with adolescents. They will demonstrate a clear commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and to supporting students from a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. We seek candidates with a related bachelor's degree or higher and deep experience in various aspects of theater arts (sound design, lighting design, set design; stage carpentry; stage management; safety precautions and procedures).

In addition to these responsibilities, faculty have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.

The salary for this role will range from $80,000 - $145,000, and will be determined based on level of experience and education.

Employees also have the opportunity to coach a sport for a supplemental stipend.

These include, but are not limited to, funded participation in professional conferences and continuing education opportunities. Athenian provides needed training for CPR/AED certification.
